To begin this article, we must turn our sight to some unpleasant news. Did you know that there are 80.000 synthetic chemicals registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and less than 20% have been tested for toxicity? And did you know that although EPA has not tested all products, many household cleaning products are listed on their website as “hazardous household waste”? You don’t? Well, here is the fact – as a result of no toxicity testing the health of our children and even their children is being compromised and they are more or less test subjects.
We must remember that children are more vulnerable to chemicals because their systems can not detoxify and excrete harmful chemicals as fast and as good as that of us, adults. Moreover, their metabolism is faster, so they absorb toxins faster than us.
Furthermore, we all know that children like placing objects in their mouths. . Scientists at Rutgers University have proved that when we spray pesticides in our home, they don’t just disappear. They evaporate and then condense on different household objects. Thus children are very likely to be exposed to much more harm by those chemicals than adults.
Because of the absence of prove to the contrary, the National Academy of Science has declared that children and infants are much more vulnerable to chemical substances, especially cleaners.
Did you know that asthma is the most chronic childhood disease today and this has happened only in the last 30 years? The explanation is simple – common household cleaners and appliances give off fumes, which actively increase the possibility for a child to develop asthma.
The research discoveries go on: it has been discovered that if a pregnant women is often exposed to chemically based products, this seriously increases the chances of wheezing in the child’s early ages.
Another disturbing news: Many household cleaning products and air fresheners produce unhealthy fumes and their frequent use is harmful.
Toxins are especially dangerous to pregnant women. Several all-purpose cleansers contain neurotoxins and nasal irritants that can be absorbed through the skin or inhaled and this can disrupt the development or even cause the death of the fetus.
For the sake of your and your family’s health, for the sake of our environment, we ask you to avoid using chemically based products, and dispose of their packaging in the way, showed on the back of the product. The best decision would be to use green cleaning products – they are not toxic and their packaging is recyclable.
